This article delineates how to apply biogas in applications that is safe, economic and also contribute to carbon neutrality. The applications include 1) Apply in boiler; 2) Produce hot and cold water; 3) Generate electricity; 4) Produce CBG (Compressed Biomethane Gas); and 5) Produce bio-methanol.
This project involves biogas production and wastewater treatment in a food processing industry in Thailand. Papop has undertaken the main contractor role. The whole project was completed in 1 year. Thai Environmental & Energy Development Co., Ltd. was the designer and act as the consultant.

Dairy industry is one of the important industry in Thailand and in any country, since people eat dairy product everyday. This industry also produces significant amount of wastewater which requires treatment. Futhermore, the treatment process can also yield a substaintial amount of biogas for power generation of heating.
UASB is the process where the organic matters in the waste are degraded by methanogens to produce biogas. The specialty of this process is that the microbes aggregate and form granules. This process was invented in the 1980s by Prof. Lettinga. Papop has contributed to the early development of this process by commercialize this process 25 years ago in Thailand.
Biogas is generated by the degradation of organic matters under anaerobic conditions or the absence of oxygen. This process is conducted by two major groups of microorganisms namely the acid forming bacteria and methane microbes or what we called “methanogens”.
The locations of biomass and biogas community power plant projects, the discount FiTf rate and the final FiT rate for the winners are shown. The interesting data is on the distribution of these projects in various regions of Thailand. Looking at both the biomass and biogas projects, it is obvious that Northeastern Region has the highest number of projects, followed by Northern Region.
